Coblation Treatment

Blocked nasal passages can make everyday activities such as eating, speaking, exercise, and sleeping more difficult. Less oxygen is delivered to the lungs as a result of nasal congestion, limiting one’s potential to perform essential tasks.

Often, chronic nasal stuffiness results from enlarged turbinates. The inferior turbinates are bony ridges located within the lateral wall of each nasal passage. The turbinates are covered by a mucosal membrane and act as filters in each nostril, preventing foreign particles from being inhaled into the lower airway. Allergies as well as other conditions may irritate the mucosal envelope, resulting in turbinate engorgement and stuffy nose.

Antihistamines, decongestants, and nasal sprays may offer temporary relief of your stuffy nose. Surgical options generally require general anesthesia and may appear risky for those with multiple medical problems or other commitments.

A simple and effective alternative lies in Coblation Radiofrequency Turbinate Reduction. This in-office procedure is designed to dramatically improve nasal breathing within 1 week of treatment. Using gentle radiofrequency energy and natural saline, Coblation enables shrinking of the nasal turbinates within the nostrils. This proven technique is performed on our premises and takes as little as 10 minutes. It has been performed successfully in over 2 million procedures by board-certified ENT surgeons. Patients can resume work the next day and studies show sustained relief up to 12 months after treatment. Side effects are rare and may include minimal bleeding.

Please ask your physician Dr. Kantu about the benefits of Coblation Turbinate Reduction.
